A NEW CHAPTER. A FAMILIAR NAME.
Welcome back
to iMap.
Here’s what returning users should know before updating or importing older files.
A fresh start for your places.
The iMap HD 6.1 update has been submitted to Apple. It is not yet announced as publicly available. This website previews the update; approval and a release announcement come next.
Release information updated October 22, 2026. App Store availability may vary by country and compatible device.
Which iMap did you buy?
Two historical apps have similar names. Their purchases belong to separate App Store records.
| Your previous app | What this update means |
|---|---|
| iMap HD / iMap 5.0 | 6.1 updates this existing app record. Existing purchasers can receive the update without buying this app again, using their original Apple Account on a compatible device. |
| The separate original iMap | This is a different purchase record. It is not automatically upgraded by the iMap HD release. Contact support before buying again; a separate upgrade path has not been announced. |
The App Store name is iMap HD. The installed app is called iMap. The upcoming release requires iOS / iPadOS 17 or later.
Before you update
- Keep a current device backup and export important data from the old app where possible.
- Keep original .imap files in a separate, safe location. Avoid replacing your only copy.
- Update the existing app rather than deleting it first.
- After updating, check important records and files before making large changes.
Bringing an older .imap file forward
Use the file import walkthrough to import a copy. Legacy contact exports are supported, but historical files can vary. Check record counts, key fields, notes, and colors after import. Some text whitespace may be normalized.
An exported file is not the same as the old app’s complete database. It may not contain every attachment or piece of app history.
If old data will not open
Do not delete the app or reset its data. The update includes recovery safeguards for older databases, but not every historical installation can be guaranteed. Keep any recovery files and contact stephen@mprinted.com with the error and your previous app version, if known.
